I suspect this is one of those 'bittersweet' conclusions to a truly amazing experience for us. It appears that we now have to prepare for our return home. In itself, that's not such a bad thing. It is the transition process that is always a challenge. All thumbs up from the two of us for a wonderful journey through Italy and Ireland........and, as always, Bogliasco is somehow a 'home away from home' for us. We are so fortunate!
We woke up to a wonderful sunny day and the sound of the fountain in the Lilly Pond. The rather dramatic rainfall shower with a glass partition was beautiful, but managed to spray water all over the bathroom and we need a few towels on the floor to allow 'navigation' over to the vanity!
Fortunately, we had a late afternoon flight from Dublin, so we had the benefit of a leisurely morning at Cliff at Lyons. We were able to wander through the grounds both before and after breakfast. Breakfast was in the 'Orangery' and was a wonderful experience!
The Spa
And then we had to leave!!! It was about a 45 minute drive to the Dublin Airport, but it took about an hour as we had to fill up the car with gas. The lady at the desk told us where the closest station was, and the route took us through some beautiful back roads.
Back to reality........we found the Hertz drop off without too much trouble, but then found trouble of our own as the 'check-in' man said he found a dent in our car. It was minimal at best and even the photo does not really show anything. The procedure is that they charge you the full replacement value of the rear panel, and when the finish the work they charge you what it really cost. The guy told us maybe $200 - 300 euros. I will not comment further on the scenario that has unfolded in the month since the drop off.......not a good story!
We made it through the airport process fairly easily and found a Priority Pass Lounge just before Customs. It was really crowded........but the food and drink were welcome! The attendant at the desk said it was the busiest day of the year so far! Why?
We had chosen our seats well, and actually had a front (bulkhead) seat on the side with huge leg room! We will close here as there is not much more to say........a quick and smooth flight back to Boston!
