Noi Andiamo a Fare Una Passeggiata

Another beautiful morning!  The forecast keeps pushing the clouds a day or two out, so no complaints here.  We think it may cloud over for Sunday with a possible shower........but so far 6 wonderful sunny days!

Breakfast was relaxing, but again we were probably in the last group of about 4 to eat.  A couple of folks (Val and David) were taking the bus to Genoa to wander........and Kerrala was taking the train to see the Immigration Museum (her parents were from Italy).  We opted to hike down to the Passagiata Garibaldi and the Nervi Parks and Gardens.  Of particular interest are the rose gardens, which are in full bloom.  Being a bit lazy, we have decided to provide an overview of the Passeggiata and the gardens.........written by others!

Discover the parks of Nervi and the Anita Garibaldi Walk

Located in the easternmost part of Genoa, Nervi is a graceful and elegant seaside village, a few kilometers from the center of Genoa.

The village overlooks a cliff along which a  suggestive and romantic walk named after Anita Garibaldi winds its way : two kilometers of terrace overlooking the sea, between the parks and the rocks, which will make it impossible for you not to fall in love with the Genoese sunsets .

At the beginning of the route you can enjoy a suggestive view of the characteristic Porticciolo di Nervi and the view of the Portofino Promontory , while on clear days it is possible to glimpse the profile of Corsica .

In addition to the characteristic small port and the seafront promenade, the area allows you to enjoy the most elegant green living room in Genoa: the splendid  Nervi Parks . This large green area, which can be accessed from both the promenade and the city centre, occupies an area of 92,000 square meters between the Via Aurelia and the sea. The area is home to a hundred botanical species including palms and cedars, and 5 trees of monumental interest. Another prominent element within the parks is the  Luigi Viacava rose garden . Restored in 2012 and divided into areas that group ancient, modern and competition roses, the rose garden boasts the presence of over 200 varieties of plants with extraordinary colors. The best time to fully enjoy its beauty is undoubtedly spring.

The Parks also count the presence of precious museums of modern and contemporary art set up inside the numerous historic villas , now owned by the municipality, and which will soon be accessible to the public again . The Gropallo, Saluzzo Serra, Grimaldi Fassio and Luxoro villas, thanks to the presence of the wonderful gardens, offer suggestive corners to be discovered.

A morning expresso on the terrace before heading out!

Andrea's favorite rock!

The Passeggiata starts here.....

We stopped at a cafe after an hour of walking.........and the gelato (limone), water and cappucino were a wonderful break!  We continued the trip back to the villa and had a 30 minute rest before lunch.........and continued our reposo after the meal.  Around 4:30 we decided to head down to the beach for a swim.  It was amazingly crowded, but the water was great.  My primary challenge was to weave between the bikinis and the hormone infused soccer players to reach some open water!

We probably did a little more walking today than we should have...... at the end of the day we had over 14,000 steps!
